Freedom of Information 

There are three key pieces of law that provide you with rights to access information we hold:

Data Protection

The 1998 Data Protection Act gives you the right to request information about yourself.

Environmental Information Regulations

The Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR) gives you a general right of access to information we hold which concerns environmental matters.

Freedom of Information

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOI) gives you a general right of access to all other information we hold.

Contract Register

LGSS is committed to being open, accountable and transparent. As part of this commitment we publish details of contracts that are held by our partner authorities as well as those for which there is an opportunity to tender.

This is in line with the government's promise to ensure that local councils are transparent about their contract expenditure and tender opportunities. It is based on the National Procurement Strategy which sets out the requirement for every local authority to maintain a corporate register of contracts.

The Contract Register contains details of active contracts over £25,000 for Cambridgeshire County Council, Northampton Borough Council, Northamptonshire County Council as well as joint contracts (typically indicated with an LGSS department).

Procurement exemptions

Procurement exemptions are sometimes granted in circumstances where the complete procurement process cannot be followed. A list of procurement exemptions valued between £250k - £500k, which have been approved by the relevant Authority in the most recently reported financial quarter can be accessed via the following link: Click Here
